NYT staff fear sports section to be dissolved

The Times’s long-suffering sports desk, known for big splashes but always struggling for a core audience, is bracing to be folded into the also-struggling Athletic. Some of its reporters will likely be offered jobs in other sections of the paper. The Washington Post has the plaintive letter from reporters “twisting in the wind,” and Semafor is told that the Times has announced a meeting tomorrow with sports staff.
